Making many long-distance calls will cause you to have to pay a lot more on your telephone bill. Given there are telephone plans with long distance incorporated in the complete fee, you need to know that the long distance is still limited. For instance, you may have unlimited long-distance calls within the USA, but still have to pay ridiculous fees to make calls internationally.

However, if you opt for a VOIP with HughesNet Satellite Internet offered by a Direct TV dealer, you will be able to make unlimited long distance calls anywhere in the world at reasonable prices. At this stage, you may wonder what VOIP is and what Satellite Internet has to do with it. VOIP is a technology that allows you to make telephone calls over the internet and/or use verbal communication in instant messaging sessions or in chat rooms. VOIP stands for voice-over-internet-protocol.

The quality of VOIP increases with the quality of the Internet connection. For example, those with dial-up will experience static with their VOIP communication and the connection will not be continuous. Using VOIP through Satellite Internet, however, sounds no different then using a telephone.

Satellite Internet comes with other benefits as well. Satellite Internet is incredibly fast when compared to dial-up internet, allowing data download speeds of 700 mbps. Satellite Internet also allows you to have more then one computer on the internet at the same time. The same is true for VOIP as well.

With the VOIP/Satellite Internet combo, family members will no longer need to argue about who gets to use the phone or Internet, since everybody will get equal access to both. One great advantage is that you don't need any additional phone lines installed.

What is a reasonable price to pay for VOIP and Satellite Internet? A mere $99 to a Direct TV dealer will get you started with HughesNet Satellite Internet. Depending on which provider you choose, the VOIP package will vary.

Some providers will charge you a subscription fee each month. A typical price is $25 or less monthly, which still beats most telephone services. The packages are best because you get low cost unlimited long distance and you do not have to any extra fees for the phone related.

VOIP providers also use a calling card system that is a good option for people who do not make many long distance calls. With a calling card system, you pre-pay for a certain number of minutes, usually with very generous rates. When all of the minutes have been expended, you'll have to make another payment. This might sound more costly, but if you do not talk much on the phone, it's likely that your overall telephone bills will amount to fewer than five dollars per month.

To summarize, VOIP or Satellite Internet can provide both fast Internet connections and low telephone service costs. The biggest amount of money you will pay goes for the Internet part, but it is a small investment when you consider all that you will get in return.
